Chapter 1

The three concepts to reflect upon re: Chapter 1

1) The concept on technology-based textbooks really caught my attention. I was unaware that teachers could use this and do not have to stick to one text book and plan that the school provides them with. Technology-based textbooks give teachers more of an opportunity to teach in their own way and style. Technology- based textbooks will grab the attention of the IGeneration more than an old text book will. Technology-based textbooks are something that the IGeneration is more used to. The possibilities and being able to be creative with your teaching through a technology-based textbook is very exciting. Here is a site I found interesting with information about and how to make lessons based on the technology-based textbook TBL.

2) The second concept I will reflect on is technology-based learning environment. The fact that teachers can interact with their students besides just assigning homework is amazing. Being able to reach your students outside of class makes it easier for future problems next class. For example, if a teacher gave the wrong number of assignments to do or read the teacher can post a note that all the students will see so they know the mistake and what the correct assignment is. Online tutors and video clips for assistance all with the touch of a button is something I wish I had when I was in school. This gives students more resources to be successful in class. I believe having a technology-based learning environment makes learning more interesting and engaging for the IGeneration.

3) The next concept I will reflect on is smartphones. Smartphones would be one of the many ways students and teachers can access and communicate in there technology-based learning environment. Students being able to write a paper and submit it only using his or her iPhone makes it so much more accessible for students and teachers. The on-the-go options smartphones offer teachers and students is very convenient. Teachers can post anything they need to such as notes, discussion boards, or extra readings all by only using there smartphone. Teachers can also check and send emails right from there phone. Being able to do all of these things without having to be at a desk gives the teachers and students the opportunity to learn more.

In conclusion technology grows everyday. Having technology in the classroom as a resource to teach and learn is beneficial to the teachers and the students. As a future teacher I want to learn more about the technology used in classrooms today and how to use them. Technology is a huge part of society and the generation I will be teaching. This makes it important for me to be up to date with technology and be able to use the technology.
